In
1886 after the death of Sri Ramakrishna, Swami
Vivekananda braught and put the ashes of his mentor Sri
Ramakrishna at Belur, which is 10 kilometres away from
Kolkata ( formarly Calcutta). Later Swamiji founded this
Math in 14th January of 1938. The architecture of the
Math reflects the concept of universal
brotherhoodness.The holy Belur Math is conducted by
Swamiji founded Ramakrishna Mission. The head office of
the mission is here only. Swamiji was laid to rest in
peace here.
